1. An early 'call' to the settlement of Eretz Israel - Dr. Chaim Lurie - Frankfurt 1864

offener bericht uber den colonisations- verein fur palastina – An open report by the Palestine Colonization Association – an early ‘call’ of the ‘Eretz Yisrael Society’ headed by Dr. Chaim Lurie – the Zionist visionary that preceded Dr. Theodor Herzl. Frankfurt 1864. Very rare.

Dr. Chaim Lurie was born in Frankfurt, a descendant of the Holy Aryans. Influenced by the Scriptures, the idea of hibat Zion began Influence him in a metastatic way. By combining different letters in the way of the mkubalim he calculated and found that the Mashiah would come in the late 1840s, and that by 1860 at the latest all Jews would be in the Land of Israel. Following this, he founded the “Yishuv Ha’aretz Company” in Frankfurt. However, as the sixties passed, traces of Mashiah were not yet known, the doubt crept into his heart that he had made a mistake in the calculation. Luria went deeper and deeper the Kabbalah of his Aryan father-in-law and found a hint that the Meshiah King would come only when one spirit arose in the Jews and one desired to return to the Land of Israel for and revive its land. This is how Dr. Luria came up with the idea of Hibat Zion, which dealt with advocating for the redemption of the lands of the Land of Israel, and for introducing the idea among the people. Dr. Lurie’s “society” was the first to settle in Eretz Israel, which was founded among the Jews in the Diaspora.

The publication before us: Dr. Lurie was the first to publish this early “Kol-Koreh” about the great value of the idea of settling Eretz Israel and the great need to establish companies for the same purpose in every city and town, and thus preceded Theodor Herzl by more than 20 years. He distributed the same “Call” as a booklet, and it was written in the prophetic style of the prophets with quotations and notes in Hebrew about the hoped-for redemption and the coming of the Meshiah and the Land of Israel, taken from the Scriptures and the Talmud and the Midrashim and calls for immediate action for the redemption of the lands of the land.

Herzl wrote the play under the influence of the Dreyfus trial, which he covered as a journalist, and he wrote it fastly in only 17 days! At the center of his plot is an assimilated Jewish lawyer who tries to get out of the social ghetto that was forced on Western Jews, but fails. At the end of the play, the lawyer is murdered by an antisemitic nobleman who has damaged his dignity. When he dies, the lawyer says in a weak voice: “Jews, my brothers, one day they will let you live – when you know how to die.” In a thunderous voice and with his last strength he says: “Get out! Get out of the ghetto!”. Samuel’s death was intended to serve as a warning that the stay of the Jews in Europe was dangerous. In the play, Herzl first expressed his national view. The years were written in Roman literature (usually), And were counted from the “Revolutionary Period” beginning on September 22, 1792 (the day the First French Republic was proclaimed, a day after the abolition of the monarchy). The purpose of the new calendar was, among other things, to remove all religious and monarchical influences from the calendar, and to begin a new historical chapter from the time of the Revolution. 20. Huge flag on the occasion of the reign of King Edward VIII of Britain - the king who Gave up his tenure

G-D BLESS OUR KING – A huge flag made of cloth, that came out on the occasion of the reign of Edward VIII, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain who relinquished the throne in favor of his marriage to the American Wallis Simpson, and in fact was the king who ruled the United Kingdom for the shortest time, less than a year, in 1936.

In the center of the flag are the letters of the names of Edward ER and VII (the eighth), on the right and left in red, the traditional blessing G-D BLESS OUR KING, and detail 1937, British flags left and right, crown, and royal decorations.

Edward VIII [1894-1972] King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Ireland and its territories from January 20, 1936 until his resignation on December 11, 1936. After the death of his father, King George V, on January 20, 1936, his eldest son – Edward, ascended the throne, named “King Edward VIII”. Edward shocked the whole of Britain when he announced his resignation from the throne in light of his desire to marry the American Wallis Simpson, who was divorced and as a result their marriage was avoided according to the decision of the British government, to which the king is committed. In fact, British law knows no way the king can resign. Therefore, the next day, the British Parliament passed a special law approving the king’s resignation, and revoking the title of his descendants as well. After relinquishing the crown, Edward received the title “His Majesty the Duke of Windsor”, which was a purely symbolic title. The couple moved to France, where they married, and then lived in the United States and France. For many years members of the royal family were not in touch with Edward, as a kind of unofficial boycott. Just near his death he was visited at his home in Paris by his niece Queen Elizabeth and her son, Prince Charles. He was already too exhausted to host them. A few days later he passed away.
