A rare photograph of the leader of ‘Naturi Karta’ in Jerusalem, Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib (Laybel’a) levi Weisfish when he was a child at the Diskin Orphanage. Described in print: “The orphan Ari’ Lieb Weisfish son of the Tzadik Mohar”r Zalman zt’l, from Warsaw comunity born 7th Tishrei 1921 educated at the “Beit Mahsha for the Great Diskin Orphans” B’Ir Hakodesh Jerusalem”. In the lower part of the photograph appear the names of the benefactors who pledged to support him – Rabbi Avraham Menachem son of Rabbi David Lifshitz and his wife. Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib (Laybel’a) levi Weisfish [1921 – 1997] son of the tzaddik Rabbi David Bahara’n, one of the founders of Neturi Karta and one of its three prominent leaders in its early days, along with Amram Bloy and Aharon Katzanelbogen. Was called the “Foreign Minister of Neturi Karta” due to his meetings with foreign ministers of several countries. He lived most of his life in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem, worked as a scribe and ran a tefillin manufacturing workshop.
