A rare “Shana Tova” card with photograph of a couple of Jews from the immigration ship “Geaula”, on the background of the ship and the inscription: “For a good year, write” a ship “Geaula” on which it is written: “Di “Geaula” Schiff”, and Israeli flags with the inscription: “Labor Battalion”.
“Geaula” is a refugee ship that left the port of Burgas in Bulgaria on September 26, 1947 and was organized by the Mossad for Aliya B, with 1,388 refugees from Romania on board. The ship was seized by the British and on October 2 was towed to Haifa port accompanied by British destroyers. Most of the passengers on board were deported to the detention camps in Cyprus and some of them were transferred to the detention camp in Atlit.
