Jäljennöksiä K. Grönhagen’in maalaamista satiirisista tauluista – “Reproductions of Satirical Paintings by K. Grönhagen” – Series 1, 8 postcards. A set of anti-Semitic postcards against the Jews of Russia and Bolshevism, Helsinki, 1930. Original paper envelope.
The postcards depict anti-Semitic scenes featuring Jews with stereotypical faces as rulers over the Russian Empire. The back of each postcard contains anti-Semitic text attributed to one of the Jewish figures in Russia, such as: “It’s time to flee, to leave the country with our gold treasure, we have robbed the people and their God…”. Or “To the victims after the great battle we only say there is no mercy, the experienced among you will survive, and you only hope to die” (a quote attributed to Soviet politician Grigorij Zinovjev). Another postcard shows the devil in the guise of a Jew saying: “I saw how the Tsarist power was destroyed, and the whole land was scattered like clay everywhere I saw violence, and everywhere piles of corpses… When the leaders’ quarrel rages and the Kremlin is covered in red blood, I alone rule the world, and the world will fall without salvation…”. Another postcard shows Lenin accompanied by a text in which he praises himself for becoming a god, and more.
