“פראספעקט פון דער נייע טאגליכער צייטונג ‘דער יוד” – “Prospectus for the new daily newspaper Der Yid” – a double-sided poster issued by the Jewish newspaper Der Yid, announcing the transformation of the paper from a weekly to a daily. Warsaw, 1919.

A poster announcing that beginning on December 16, the 24th of Kislev, the newspaper, which had previously been a weekly, would begin publishing as a daily, and detailing the paper’s aims. It will serve as a center for Jewish life, where every G-d-fearing Jew will be able to express their voice. It will report on gatherings of Shlomei Emunei Yisroel, defend the rights of the Jewish population, and bring about a renewed revival of Polish Jewry. The poster further states that the newspaper will fight against antisemitism from the outside and against Jewish assimilationists, who pose a spiritual threat to the Jewish community. The paper will also address the role of Jewish religious life in Eretz Israel as part of the public agenda, will publish general news while maintaining standards of modesty, provide a platform for commerce, and more. The poster emphasizes that the appearance of the newspaper in Warsaw is “especially important today” because 3 million Jews live in the city, and there is a need to create a voice that will defend their rights before the authorities. “Every Orthodox Jew must read the newspaper Der Yid — it is the only newspaper of Orthodoxy.” The address of the editorial board and management is 11 Kopyatska Street in Warsaw, and from now on it will be available at the building of the Agudas Shlomei Emunei Yisroel and in bookstores.

Der Yid – the Haredi newspaper in Warsaw (1918–1929), was founded in December 1918 in Yiddish. The founder and editor was Rabbi Meshulam Kaminer. The newspaper was affiliated with the Agudath Israel movement. It began as a weekly, and after about a year, on December 1, 1919, it became a daily. It served as the official organ of Agudath Israel in Poland and was one of the principal voices of the Haredi public in that country. Throughout its years of operation, the paper addressed religious, political, and social issues and reflected the positions of the Haredi leadership at the time. Der Yid operated for about a decade, until 1929, when it was shut down due to financial difficulties. After its closure, the newspaper Dos Yiddishe Togblat (The Jewish Daily) was established, continuing its path and also affiliated with Agudath Israel.
