Aliya – A trip to Israel – Album Containing 64 Photographs of an Immigrant to the Land of Israel in the Summer of 1946. The Photographs are Described Throughout the Album, Some in Hebrew and Some in English.

The album holds private photographs taken by an immigrant from Switzerland during his journey to the Land of Israel, beginning with his departure on a ship crossing the Strait of Gibraltar with a group of immigrants and his arrival in the Land. It includes numerous photographs from important sites visited in the Land of Israel in 1946, as the region was recovering from World War II. The album features a variety of rare photographs, including different angles of worshippers at the Western Wall (including a large photograph of a worshipper kneeling before the stones of the Wall, 18×13 cm), the approaches to Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem, the bonfire lighting at Lag BaOmer in Meron, the Cave of Hosea the Prophet, the facade of Rabbi Herzog’s house, a rare photograph of Rachel’s Tomb (large: 18×12 cm), the Mount of Olives, and many more.

The album is bound in olive wood – Jerusalem souvenir with a colorful print of the Gate of Mercy and the Temple Mount: 25×18 cm. The photographs are of various sizes, most being 9×7 cm. Some pages of the album are detached, and in some cases, the description remains but the photograph is missing. Overall condition good.
