Antique photograph of a family gathered around their father’s gravestone. Eastern Europe, c. 1920s. Set in a deep, finely decorated brass frame.
The deceased’s first name could not be identified (partially obscured by grass). The gravestone inscription reads: “A sincere man and charitable. Here lies one who feared G-d and cherished His commandments. May his name and righteousness be remembered for good. Upright and honorable in his ways, our father, the crown of our head… our spirit and our heart… son of R. Shmuel…”
