!ouvrier de chez nous regarde, lis, juge – “Local worker look, read, and judge!” A booklet published in Vichy France [1941] aimed at the working class in order to accuse the Jews of attempting to introduce Communism among French society: “The doctrine of Communism is a lie – a subhuman product of the Jewish mind.” The first page features an image of the Jewish Karl Marx and the anti-Semitic text: “The Jew Karl Marx. Communism is not the dream of French workers, it was invented by Jewish bourgeois from Germany”, accompanied by photos of famous Jews supposedly supporting Communism. France, early 1940s (without publisher or printer name).
“Worker of ours, this booklet is intended especially for you, in your interest, and it is your duty to read it carefully. You must know the truth about the Bolshevism whose betrayals led you to suffering defeat… Communism is a lying doctrine, a non-human product of the Jewish mind” (from the introduction). After accusing Jews of inventing Communism, it details its disastrous consequences by exposing the Communist laws in Russia accompanied by harsh photographs documenting the results of Communism, the product of Jewish minds: severe warnings up to the death penalty for Russian civilian workers leaving the country for work, the Soviet dictatorship sending workers who violated laws to Siberia, a worker missing from work for even one day facing 10 years’ imprisonment, long-term incarceration for workers found without a Soviet passport, the meager monthly wages given to Soviet workers, seven elderly factory workers sleeping in a small room of 10 square meters on the floor, permission for a Soviet officer to use the death penalty against a soldier even without trial – all blamed on the Jews. Among others, photographs appear of people murdered in Russia under the Communist regime, and more. On the back of the booklet is a drawing of a hand holding a gun shooting a man, with the text: “LA SIGNATURE BOLCHEVIQUE” – the Bolshevik signature.
