“The dollar bill does not smell, the Jew does” – An antisemitic dollar bill accusing the Jews of driving the American economy, and controlling American money for war. France 1942.

On the inside of the “note” are antisemitic inscriptions against the US Jewish Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Morgenthau: “The United States Secretary of the Treasury is a junior Jew”. The center of the note inside a yellow Star of David reads: “This note is not valid without Morgenthau’s signature”, and the accusation of the Jews at the outbreak of the war: “Is this dollar that the Anglo-Americans send us enough to compensate us for the misery of the Jewish war?”, and against the Jews in general:”the dollar bill does not smell, the Jew does”, and more.

These ‘Banknotes’ Were Dropped from Aircraft Circling Over Paris as Part of a German Propaganda Campaign Linking the Jewish Conspiracy to the Strengthening of the United States in Its Fight Against Germany. The streets were filled with dollar bills that at first glance appeared to be real, and the crowd rushed to collect them. Once gathered, it was revealed that these were anti-Semitic notes targeting the Jews who supposedly controlled the American currency, through which the war against the Axis powers was being financed.”
