Two notebooks, in each 41 leaves, with newspaper clippings pasted on each page, mainly from the French press. among them many cartoons that mock Hitler and Bolshevism in general, some of the pages have pasted original cartoons made in pencil. In both notebooks, owner’s signature of McLeef on the cover’s front page.
Mordechai McLeef [1920-1978] The IDF’s third chief of staff in the years 1952-1953, was born in Motzah. He was one of the only survivors in the 1929 massacre of his family’s massacre. During World War II he enlisted in the British army and left after a brief service for an officer course. Fight in North Africa and for two months as part of the Jewish Brigade in the Battle of the Sanio River in Italy. Released from the Army as a Major. For a certain time he spent time in Europe and Worked at immigration B, perhaps during that time he purchased or received the notebooks before us. Then he returned to Eretz Israel, settled in Pardes Hanna and rejoined the Haganah apparatus as commander of the His’h Battalion.
