Collection of 17 photographic cards from the “Das Neue Reich” (“The New Reich”) series. A series of photographic cards printed in the 1930s in Nazi Germany, distributed through the “Club- und Liga-Bilder” network — a distribution system of collectible images that usually reached consumers as part of food products (such as cigarettes, chocolate, coffee) or through direct purchase. The present cards document events of the Nazi Party with its rise to power in 1933.
The “Das Neue Reich” series was distributed in Dresden and included official Nazi Germany propaganda photographs depicting Adolf Hitler, Nazi officials, party events, military ceremonies, and propaganda emphasizing the power of the Reich. The photographs were collected into a printed album, with each card intended to be affixed in its designated place in the album. Among the present cards are, inter alia — Hitler and Göring on the balcony of the Reich Chancellery after Hitler’s election as Chancellor of Germany – 30 January 1933; German director Leni Riefenstahl filming Deputy Führer Rudolf Hess during the opening speech of the Party Congress in 1933; the first meeting of the New Reich chaired by Adolf Hitler in 1933; the Nazi Party Rally in Nuremberg, 1933; an SS parade before Adolf Hitler in Berlin, April 1933; and more.
