Collection of 22 photographic cards from the series “Das Neue Reich” (“The New Reich”). A series of real photo cards printed in the 1930s in Nazi Germany and distributed through the “Club- und Liga-Bilder” network – a distribution system for collectible images that typically reached consumers as part of food products (such as cigarettes, chocolate, or coffee) or through direct purchase. The cards before us document the events of the Nazi party with its rise to power in 1933.
The cards before us document, among other things: the Reich Party Rally in Nuremberg in 1933 – the Führer ascending the tribune; Himmler and his men in Dobritz near Berlin; a rare photo from the courtroom regarding the Reichstag fire events; SA and SS formations before Adolf Hitler at the Berlin Sportfest – April 1933; the Reich President (in the early weeks) von Hindenburg delivering a speech in Potsdam; the Nazi party rally in Nuremberg in 1933 during a reception ceremony in the old town hall; an SA flag march before Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler in front of the Reich Chancellery in January 1933; a march of German girls in the Berlin stadium; Hermann Göring opening the first Reichstag session at the Kroll Opera House – March 21, 1933; SA parades at Tempelhof Field; Hitler and Göring on the Reich Chancellery balcony following Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor of Germany – January 30, 1933; and others.
The “Das Neue Reich” series was distributed in Dresden and included official propaganda photographs of Nazi Germany depicting Adolf Hitler, senior Nazi officials, party events, military ceremonies, and propaganda emphasizing the strength of the Reich.
