22 postcards featuring views of the Land of Israel, published by Raphael Tuck & Sons – England, early 20th century.

The postcards depict: landscape views of Jerusalem – the Temple Mount, the Old City, a view of the Dome of the Rock from the Mount of Olives, market day scenes, as well as views of the Galilee and other cities, important sites, and local inhabitants in traditional dress, among others.

The postcard enterprise of Raphael Tuck, a British Jew, was established in London in the early 1870s. By the end of the 19th century, Raphael Tuck & Sons had earned a distinguished reputation in the field of postcard publishing. Known for their beautiful and pioneering graphic designs, the company was appointed “Art Publishers to Their Majesties the King & Queen”, a title proudly printed on the backs of their cards along with the British royal crest. Tuck employed leading graphic artists and designers of the time, and due to growing demand, produced postcards not only for the Jewish public but also for the general population. In the final decade of the 19th century, the company opened a branch on Broadway in New York, and during that period became especially renowned for printing illustrated Jewish New Year greeting cards.

Some of the postcards have been used. Overall very good condition.
