Rabbi Avraham Zvi Perlmutter [1843-1930] One of the most famous Polish geniuses of the pre-Holocaust generation. In 1861 he began serving as rabbi in several communities in Poland and in 1866 was appointed rabbi of Radom. In 1902 he moved to Warsaw and took part in the leadership of the large Jewish community. He took the place of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Liphshitz as head of the Warsaw rabbis. In 1905, he printed his book of Responsa “Damesek Eliezer”, to which is attached “Eretz Zvi”. One of the founders of Agudat Israel. He died on the 9th of Sivan in 1930 and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Warsaw, near the “Hemdat Shlomo”.
