Depuis 1939 – “Since 1939” – A rare photo booklet in an album edition published by the Allies near the end of World War II. A vivid documentation by field photographers present on various fronts in the occupied countries where the Allies fought Nazi Germany and the Axis Powers. Published by the Office d’Information de Guerre des États-Unis [Washington, August 1944]. Printed on thick, high-quality paper.

The booklet is accompanied by photographs and maps illustrating the progression of the campaign, with explanations of the German strategy for world conquest, the “New Order” plan, and how the Allies managed to halt German aggression. Among the photographs are images documenting Poland’s surrender during the Blitzkrieg, occupied Brussels, burning Rotterdam, German troops marching under the Arc de Triomphe, French citizens’ stunned faces as they witnessed the Nazi occupiers, Germany’s conquest of the Balkans, the campaign in Africa, the Italian campaign, the major Russian offensive, the attack against Japan, Germany under bombardment, German retreats, and the landing in France.
