A volume of issues of the weekly “Der Amerikaner – A Weekly Journal, Contains Everything for Everyone”. A collection of issues from July 24, 1908 to December 16, 1910. Published every Friday, edited by G. Spierstein.
A rare Orthodox Yiddish newspaper published by the Jewish community in New York in the early 20th century. The paper took a firm stance against trends such as the Haskalah (Jewish Enlightenment) and fought to uphold Jewish tradition. It regularly published articles opposing the rise of European antisemitism, while also reporting on events within the Jewish community of Eastern Europe. Its writers criticized the leaders of the Hebrew Enlightenment movement, figures considered consensus icons among Zionists. The newspaper also reported on resolutions passed at the Zionist Congresses and their impact on the religious community, among other topics.
Rare. Not recorded in bibliographies and not listed in the National Library.
Moderate – poor condition. Fragile paper. Tears along the edges of some issues. Bound only along the back edge, front cover missing. Tears across several pages.
