Collection of early documents belonging to Heinrich Appel, a Jewish soldier who served in the British Air Force during World War II. Appel was born in Vienna, Austria, and completed studies there. During the war, he served as a pilot in the British Air Force, and after the war he immigrated to Eretz Israel. Recruitment form for the Royal Air Force dated July 10, 1940, in which Appel commits to perform any duty required of him as a pilot, fly any type of aircraft assigned to him, anywhere in the world; a detailed questionnaire with his personal details on four pages – concluding with a signed statement of loyalty to King George VI, his heirs and successors, committing to carry out any orders given to him by officers of the Royal Air Force.
