Printed share certificate (lithograph) with pencil markings and additions – a draft (Sketches) for the “Bnei Binyamin” Bank share certificate, created by Meir Gur-Aryeh (signed in print at the bottom right).
Before us is a rare form used by Gur-Aryeh to design the English version of the share certificate. He sketched a circle and part of the letters “Binyamin” in pencil. This design, which incorporates the words “Bnei Binyamin” as the background for the share certificate itself, to the left of the illustration, was eventually replaced by Gur-Aryeh, who finished the left side of the certificate in a different manner.
The “Bnei Binyamin” association was an organization of the sons of the colonies, established in 1921. The organization was named after Benjamin Ze’ev Herzl and Benjamin Rothschild. The president of the organization was Alexander Aaronsohn, and the secretary was Oved Ben-Ami. The original goals of the organization were to assist farmers in the colonies, but it soon became a company for purchasing land and establishing colonies. To achieve their goals, Bnei Binyamin established the “Hanotea” company in 1924 for planting and cultivating orchards—a company that was also involved in transferring Jewish property from Germany to Israel—as well as the “Bnei Binyamin Bank.”
