5 lines in the holy handwriting of Rabbi David Yehoshua Hashel Horowitz, the grandson of the owner of the “Hafla’ah” on his father’s side – the Gaon wrote the amount he received for three months and signed his name: “I accepted it as correct… H. Iyer, Sivan, Tammuz… ‘ [הקטן] David Hashel B Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Halevi…”. Additional inscriptions and signatures on a large receipt leaf from the 1800s. extremely rare. As far as we know, his handwriting and signature have never appeared in auctions.
Rabbi David Yehoshua Hashel Horowitz [Otzar HaRabanim 5153] , son of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Horowitz, son-in-law of Rabbi Elazar Kalin, rabbi of Fronkirchen, died in Keslo 1826. His father Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Horowitz, rabbi of Frankfurt Demain, Author of the “Mahana Halevi” and “Shalmei Toda”, the son of רשכבה”ג the great genius Rabbi Pinchas Halevi Horowitz, the author of the “Hafla’ah”.
