Four banknotes used by prisoners in Westerbork Camp, denominations: 25, 50 (Series AA – the first series of notes), 100 cents (Series BB – the second series of notes), 10 cents (Series CC – the third series) – in total, three series of notes were issued in Westerbork during 1944-1945. On the front of each note, the camp landscape with a smoking chimney is depicted. The reverse of each note bears the printed signature of camp commander Albert Gemmeker.

The Polizeiliches Judendurchgangslager Westerbork (Polizeiliches Judendurchgangslager Westerbork) was one of two transit camps established by the Nazis in the Netherlands (the other was Vught, in southern Holland) for the deportation of Dutch Jews to concentration and extermination camps in the East. The camp was established in February 1939 and began operating as a transit camp on July 1, 1942, after the Germans occupied the Netherlands. (Anne Frank stayed in the camp from August 7 to September 3, 1944, before being sent to Auschwitz). The camp was liberated by Canadian soldiers on April 12, 1945. Approximately 102,000 Jews were deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz and Sobibor for extermination.

Some stains and creases on some of the notes. Overall good condition.
