Four photographs showing survivors of extermination camps in German territory in a serious physical condition. Photographed by the Allies in camps at the end of the war [1945].
* A photograph of a Russian survivor who survived death thanks to the fact that he was buried for three days under the bodies of his friends – Gardelen near the Nordhausen camp. (During the mass murder committed by the Nazis at the end of the war in Dora Mittelbau).
* American officers assist survivor in the Penig camp. On the back of the photo was written by a soldier of the American Communications Corps: “Corpses that are still alive and walking around”. The women in the camp were mercilessly starved and worked to death in a factory for building aircraft parts. The Americans immediately took over a Luftwaffe [German Air Force] hospital and forced the crew to treat the unfortunate skeletons until they recovered.
