The Road to Victory, colorful game board – a war game between the Allies and Nazi Germany. [Eretz Israel, 1942]. The Arabic edition (the game was released in three versions: Hebrew, Arabic, and English).

Across the board are one hundred stations set against a map of North Africa and Europe. The board features colorful illustrations leading step by step to the defeat of Nazi Germany – British soldiers, tanks, fighter planes and ships, an Australian troops assault, a German ship flying the swastika flag sinking with its soldiers cast into the sea, a German plane crashing mid-air, and more. Near the end of the route, Hitler is kidnapped and Mussolini is shot, and the German army is defeated as tank commanders emerge from their turrets with raised hands in surrender. The goal of the game is to reach the end of the route first by rolling a die. Landing on a red circle delays a turn, while landing on various other spots moves the player forward or backward by several steps. Participants in the game represent one of the Allied armies: British, American, Russian, Chinese, Australian, or Eretz-Israeli.

The Arabic edition of the game is extremely rare. See: “The Road to Victory: A World War II Game, ” by Gadi Kfir, in: Playing with the Blog – Gadi Kfir’s Blog, on the Haaretz website.

Board: 50×36 cm. Repaired tear at the upper part of the board with minor loss to illustration.
