Paroles dorées de Mr. Churchill adressées à la Nation Française – “Golden Words of Mr. Churchill Addressed to the French Nation.” A booklet of caricatures portraying Winston Churchill as a pathologically deceitful, money-hungry man serving Jewish interests. Distributed by the Vichy regime’s propaganda services. France, 1940. Rare.
The booklet opens with a quote from a speech Churchill gave on October 21, 1940, which ends with the words: “Let us think of it always, let us never speak of it, ” as if to imply that Churchill himself admits to acting with duplicity. Throughout the booklet, caricatures are accompanied by short captions that present a supposedly inverted reality to Churchill’s public statements. For example, next to his claim: “Despite the losses, we have command of the sea; in 1941 we shall have command of the air, ” there is a caricature showing a British ship surrounded on all sides by Nazi vessels, with Churchill at the helm. Churchill is accompanied by Rothschild—the wealthy Jew—holding a bag of money, and by a ghostly figure saying: “For more than thirty years, in peace and in war, I have walked with you—and I walk with you still along the old path.” Another caricature shows Churchill fleeing France with stolen goods, saying: “Do not imagine that we English are trying to seize your ships or your colonies, ” while a Nazi tank is aimed at him. Churchill says: “We want nothing from any nation but honor”—while in the caricature, he is carried on the shoulders of representatives of various nations, lying in the center with a bag of money, as each representative bears for him a natural resource from his respective nation, and more.
