HITLER A MENTI Ce qu’il a dit Ce qu’il a fait – Hitler the Liar – What He Said and What He Did – a collection of false statements by Adolf Hitler throughout his rule in the Third Reich, from the early days of the Nazi Party’s rise to power in 1933 until its final days in 1944. By Pierre Debceuf. Published by S.I.L.I.C. – Société d’Impressions Littéraires Industrielles et Commerciales, Lille (France), 1945. Rare.

“This man possessed a strange talent for evil, and tens of millions of people, in Germany and elsewhere, fell victim to his sinister charm, believing that Hitler sought peace… but actions contradicted words, falsehood followed falsehood… the most solemn promises were accompanied by the loudest denials. Treaties were signed only to be broken. The most sacred principles of honor and a man’s word were deliberately trampled…” (from the introduction).

An extensive collection of quotations from the vast web of deception carried out by Hitler during his years as leader of Nazi Germany. The author demonstrates how, prior to each strategic move made by Hitler in line with his worldview, he disseminated lies through every available medium with the aim of misleading and disarming his opponents. In the introduction to the booklet, the editor writes that he does not intend to reveal anything new about Hitler’s character but only to: “gather them (his lies) in a logical order and place them in time, ” in order to show readers how Hitler’s lies were part of a well-planned course of action, and not simply words that slipped out in a moment of passion.
The booklet opens with the false propaganda that launched Hitler’s 1933 election campaign: “The world is persecuting us, but we want peace, ” and continues with the ways in which Hitler obscured the true intentions of Nazi Germany under his leadership: “Our love for our nation leads us to respect the rights of other nations. We reject the possibility of Germanizing those who are not German” (May 17, 1933), and: “We have neither the will nor the intention to tear ethnic elements away from their nation in order to take their language or culture or to impose a German culture that would be foreign to them” (May 21, 1935). His lies regarding Germany’s intentions to subjugate the nations it conquered: “We do not wish to enslave any foreign population” (September 27, 1937), his false declarations concerning the planned invasion of Poland and the annexation of Austria—Hitler repeatedly declared that he had no intention of annexing any country, and more.
The booklet juxtaposes Hitler’s lies with the opposite actions he carried out shortly thereafter, and also includes direct passages from his book Mein Kampf, revealing his true intentions regarding the peoples of Europe and the Jews, and how he distorted those intentions in public declarations from various platforms.
