HITLER-BANDA – HÁBORÚS KARRIKATÚRÁK 1942-1943 — Hitler’s Gang – War Cartoons by Borisz Jefimov – One of the Most Precise and Respected Works in the Field of Anti-Nazi Cartoons. Text by Rober Byssz, Published by Athenaeum Kiadas, Budapest 1945 – First Edition Released on the First Anniversary of the Liberation of the Hungarian Capital. Hungarian.

“The collection of cartoons that we are now presenting to the Hungarian public is one of the most eloquent documents of humanity’s greatest catastrophe and the murderous system of fascism. Its author is Boris Yefimov, one of the most prolific and popular artists of the Soviet Union, creator of numerous political posters, who, by the way, is a major in the Russian army and personally visited Budapest recently, armed also with the weapon of satire. This weapon often kills more effectively than the most cunningly designed war machine… Yefimov’s cartoons are packed with these terrifyingly powerful ideas; they expose all the inhumanity and evil hidden behind the lies of this terrible system that has now perished. They gnaw to the bone, to the brain, walking on blood, and in their cruel laughter, the skeletal face of death, that inevitable end brought upon humanity by this insane criminal group, grins back at us.” (From the introduction).

The book features cartoons created by Yefimov between 1942 and 1943, mocking Nazi leaders and their policies. These works are regarded as some of the most accurate and significant anti-Nazi cartoons. In illustrations depicting the final stages of the war and the imminent Nazi defeat, Yefimov incorporated colored elements to sharpen the joyful message of the war’s end and the fall of Nazism. Boris Yefimov (1900–2008) was a Soviet political cartoonist, best known for his satirical illustrations of Adolf Hitler and other Nazi leaders. His works were widely published during and after World War II, delivering sharp critiques of the Nazi regime.
