Israel Zangwill (1864-1926) A well-known British Jewish writer and Zionist activist. And then, founder of the Jewish Territorialist Movement. Born in Britain to a poor Jewish family who immigrated from Latvia. In 1895, Benjamin Zeev Herzl contacted Zangwill and asked for his help in raising awareness of building a national-Jewish home among the Jewish community in Britain. In addition to his Zionist activities he was a prolific creator. His works, which documented the life of the Jews in the London ghetto, were characterized by a symbolic statement about the life of the Jews in the Diaspora, which incorporated a protest against the existential condition of the Jewish people and a strong urge to correct and change them. They became accepted among Jews who loved beautiful literature and were supporters of the Zionist movement.
