Book containing 87 biographies of Jewish scholars and rabbis from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries who were born in Poland or permanent residents of Poland. The rabbis’ names are arranged in alphabetical order, and each one has a chapter surveying his year of birth and passing, place of rabbinate, books he authored, his teachers and students, his relationships with the sages of his generation, and his role in the Jewish community.
In the second part of the book are many portrait images of Gdoley Israel mentioned in the book – the great rabbis of Poland, including: Ram’a, Rashash, Rabbi Shlomo Eiger, Rabbi Yehonatan Eibshitz, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, Rabbi Akiva Eiger, tombstone images of great rabbis, an image of the false messiah Shabtai Tzvi, and more. Foreword by Henryk Halkowski elaborating on the unique study methods of the great Polish rabbis.
