In his letter, the Ga’on Rabbi Yitzchak Elhanan Instructs to permit marriage and praises the writer for the proper words he wrote in the matter. And adds that he can not prolong because of his weakness. The Ga’on Rabbi Yitzchak Elhanan Spector (1817-1896), the greatest of his generation, was known for his genius, perseverance and great righteousness. Was considered the supreme Torah authority in his generation and led the Jews of Lithuania and Russia for years. Served in the rabbinate from an early age when he was about 20 years old. In 1864 he was appointed rabbi of the city of Kovno, and his name was known throughout the world as one of the greatest halachic authorities of his generation. His responsa and novellae were printed in his series of books: Be’er Yitzhak, Nahal Yitzhak and Ein Yitzhak.
