“I shall begin writing the book of Goralot of the Urim and Tumim…” – A manuscript of Goralot based on the secret of the Urim and Tumim in the Second Temple, used for predicting a person’s fate and success. Dozens of handwritten pages containing tables arranged according to the letters of the Choshen in countless combinations, “sometimes responding in the masculine form and sometimes in the feminine form.” India, 19th century.
In the introduction, the author explains the tradition of Goralot and how it was passed down through generations, as well as the way in which a sage uses Goralot according to the secret wisdom. Following this, there is a prayer for the success of the Goral. After that, dozens of pages contain tables of the letters of the Goral, arranged in the order known to the sages of Kabbalah. It is known that the greatest disciple of the Ari ZL, the divine Kabbalist Rabbi Chaim Vital (Maharchu), composed a book of Goralot based on the twelve zodiac signs. Likewise, Rabbi Shalom Shabazi notes in the introduction to his book Goral HaChol that the Patriarchs already used this wisdom, as did the great sages of early generations.
