The author, Rabbi Avraham ben Chananiah Yagel – [1553–1624], a Jewish-Italian physician, philosopher, and Kabbalist, closely associated with royal courts. He is best known for his work Gei Chazon, which he wrote during approximately a year of imprisonment in Mantua (following a warrant issued against him due to a conflict with the Almageti family).
