John F. Kennedy, the President of the United States, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963. The assassination took place during a motorcade ride in an open car through the streets of Dallas following his visit to Fort Worth, on the way to a meeting in downtown Dallas. Texas Governor John Connally, who was also wounded in the assassination, and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy were in the car with him. Four government investigations and one municipal investigation concluded that the assassination was carried out by Lee Harvey Oswald. After the assassination, various conspiracy theories emerged regarding the identity of the assassin or assassins. This assassination is a pivotal event in American consciousness and culture and is still regarded by many as an unresolved topic, revisited by creators and researchers repeatedly.
