Moreh Nevochey Hazman by Rabbi Nachman HaCohen Krachmal, Lembberg 1863 (at the Loazi Gate: Leopoli). Second edition printed by the student of the R.N.K. – Rabbi Meir Halevi Latris. Include unknown letters were added by the author who did not appear in the first edition.
The only book published by Rabbi Nachman Krochmal in Hebrew, which he labored for many years and was published after his death by Yom Tov Lipman Zonz (Lvov, 1851). The book’s name, probably coined by R.N.K. himself before his death, hints at Rambam’s book “More Nevochim”, as the two books’ aims are similar: to help the believer cope with the difficulties and embarrassments of contradiction between philosophy and Torah heritage.
Author: Rabbi Nachman Kreuchmal (R.N.K.; 1785-1840), a Jewish thinker and historian, one of the most prominent members of the Galicia educational movement and the founders of the Wisdom of Israel movement. Around RNK, a group of students from which important writers and scholars originated in Galicia and Eastern Europe gathered during the 19th century. In this book, which presents his philosophical view of the history of the Jewish people, he influenced the study of Jewish history, Jewish literature, and Jewish thought in the generations that followed.
