Moshe Dayan – Vietnam Diary. Dvir Publishing, Tel Aviv, 1977 – A Copy Dedicated and Signed by the Author: “To Aryeh Disenchik, with regards, Moshe Dayan”.

In 1966, Moshe Dayan, at the initiative of the Maariv newspaper, traveled alongside prominent journalists from England and the United States to report on the Vietnam War, a conflict at the height of global attention. While in Vietnam, Dayan maintained a detailed diary documenting his stay, firsthand impressions, and conversations with soldiers, commanders, generals, and statesmen who sought his views and perspective. The diary is published here in its entirety for the first time.

Moshe Dayan [1915-1981], the fourth Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, was a fighter, commander, military strategist, and statesman. Starting as an officer in the Haganah and Palmach, Dayan rose through the ranks to become the fourth Chief of Staff of the IDF, leading during the Sinai Campaign (Operation Kadesh). He served as a Member of Knesset and Minister in various Israeli governments, notably as Minister of Defense during the Six-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War, and as Foreign Minister in Menachem Begin’s government during the signing of the peace treaty with Egypt.
