“Invitation!
We have the honor of inviting you to the Second Congress of Liberated Jews in the British Zone, to be held from the 20th to the 30th of July… The exhibition covers all areas of our lives after liberation and our struggle for a new life in Eretz Israel. A significant part of the exhibition is dedicated to the prewar period and the lives of Jews in Germany, based on documents collected by our department in Göttingen.”
This was a major event in the mobilization of Holocaust survivors – primarily Eastern European Jews – who had survived extermination camps, death marches, and persecution, and began to demand their right to rehabilitation, political recognition, and free immigration, particularly to Eretz Israel.
