Perush of the prayers according to the Kabbalat HaAr’i by Rabbi Yaakov Tzemach, Saloniki 1854 – first edition. The copy of the Kabbalist Rabbi Nissim Kadouri in the pages of the book is a number of glosses in the Kabbalah in his handwriting.
The Kabbalist Rabbi Nissim Ezra Kadouri [1891-1972], one of the greatest rabbis of Babylon and one of the greatest teachers of his generation, lived and worked in Baghdad for most of his life, and served as the head of the rabbis of Babylon, and the supreme Torah authority of his generation, and one of the greatest Kabbalists. Immigrated to Jerusalem in 1951. Also in Jerusalem was recognized as a great and old rabbi of Babylon. He very much liked the teachings of Maran HaBen Iish chai, and made him a crown on his head. He devoted much time to the study of his teachings and did not deviate from his words, both while in Babylon and in Israel. Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu would say of him in the name of the elders of the Babylonian sages that Rabbi Nissim Kadouri was “second to Rabbenu HaBen Iish chai”. Many came to hear from him a word of advice. He studied at the important Beit Midrash “Beit Zelicha”. There he used to study every day for four hours with his friend Rabbi Salman Mutzafi Shas and Rishonim. In this beit midrash, together with Rabbi Salman Hugi Abodi, he examined the boy who would enlighten the generation with his teachings – Maran Rabbi Ovadia Yosef at the request of his father. Even then, Rabbi Nissim recognized the greatness of Rabbi Ovadia and told his father that his son would be a great Posek. He dealt daily with the writings of the Ar’i, and left glosses and notes on the books of Kabbalah, which he studied, which were published after his death.
