A letter to the Hapoel HaTzair movement regarding the necessary actions to continue the immigration operation to the Land of Israel. Signed with an early signature of Golda Meir, by her youth name: “Golda Meirson” (and an additional signature of Elisheva Kaplan). Tel Aviv, May 16, 1926.

The letter, sent by the “Mohetzet HaPoalot” of the Hebrew workers in the Land of Israel to the Hapoel HaTzair movement, requests Golda’s assistance in the fight for survival of the training enterprises abroad in order to bring as many Jews as possible to the Land of Israel. This was after immigration to Israel had been halted due to a lack of manpower in the Hapoel HaTzair movement. She updates them on the progress made in the work despite the financial difficulties and expresses her disappointment at the obstacle of halting immigration: “The cessation of immigration raises concerns in our hearts… The group was formed for the purpose of continuous immigration, and with its halt, the group’s path has been narrowed… Opening the gates of the Land for us is an urgent matter.” She also suggests opening a large farm near Nes Ziona, where about 120 to 150 women workers will be employed, based on the earlier success of training farms for women workers.

Alongside Golda’s signature appears the signature of Elisheva Kaplan (1900-1959) – a Zionist activist from Poland, a member of the Zionist Executive Committee, a member of the General Federation of Labor institutions, and one of the founders of the Mishkalot HaPoalim council. She was a member of the Fourth Assembly of Representatives on behalf of the Mapai faction and the wife of the third Prime Minister, Levi Eshkol.
