A book for young German girls in the spirit of the Nazi ideals of the “New Germany” – a fine copy including the rare advertisement leaf for the book. On the protective page, a dedication from 1936.
This book presents stories focused on the young German girl and her roles in German society, reflecting the values of the “New Germany.” It highlights physical culture as part of the German people’s identity and portrays the German nation as perfect in every way.
For example, the story “Let’s Jump and Dive” describes a German girl who, because of her perfect physique, surpasses the abilities of men in swimming. In the story “German Dialects, ” the German language is described as superior to other languages, possessing “the deepest roots of German place and nature.” The story “The Talent Test Behind the Scenes” portrays the German people as leaders in theater and stage design. In “The Gymnastics School, ” it illustrates how the German individual becomes part of the collective: “Every German girl exercises as a member of this large German community where we are no longer ‘I’ but ‘we.’ The physical exercises are meant to help us create strength…”. The story “Great Composers and Their Justice – A History of German Music” describes German composers as the pinnacle of human musical achievement. Another story, “Guardian, Home, and Hearth, ” portrays the German home as a place of internal solidarity between people connected by blood loyalty, and it depicts the German woman as the perfect woman. The book also includes a story about the 1936 Berlin Olympics, featuring a German girl who achieved unprecedented success due to her German heritage, and more.
