The volume contains 150 wood engravings and 5 color-printed plates, demonstrating remarkably high-quality chromolithographic printing for the period. The color plates are protected by tissue guards and depict the Land of Israel and its cities, including Jaffa, Jerusalem, Hebron, Jericho, and others. The book was regarded as the most accurate and reliable work on the Land of Israel published in the nineteenth century, as it was based on views drawn on location rather than copied from earlier sources.
