At the 12th Zionist Congress in 1921, Sokolow was elected Chairman of the Zionist Executive and served in this role until the 17th Zionist Congress in 1931, when he was also appointed President of the World Zionist Organization. During the 1920s, he led the activities of the global Zionist movement and played a central role in the Jewish community of Poland during that period.
