L’Album d’Images de Cagou et Kamouna – The photo album of Kago and Kamuna – A magnificent album with 105 reproductions of postcards depicting the glorious Tunisian Jewry of the early 20th century, from the Jaen pierre Allali collection. Editions de la terre retrouvee, Paris 1980. On the first page is a handwritten dedication and signature of the collector and publisher Jean-Pierre Allley, presenting the postcards in his private collection in this special edition. On the last page is another dedication, apparently in the handwriting and signature of his son.
Thick panels on which were printed pictures of rare postcards from the author’s collection, showing Tunisian Jews in traditional dress, interior and exterior views of synagogues in Tunisia, Jews engaged in daily work, Jewish customs, Jewish neighborhoods, and more. According to Halley, in the introduction to the book, many of the clothing characteristics of Tunisian Jewry are known to us today from a single source – the same historical postcards from the beginning of the 20th century, they have not been documented anywhere else. (With a first introduction by Serge Moati in which he thanks Halley for his contribution to the publication, a second introduction by Halley himself)
