Mehmed V [1844–1918], also known as Reşad, was the 35th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, serving from 1909 until 1918. He was the penultimate Sultan of the Empire. He ascended the throne at the age of 65 following the deposition of his brother, Abdülhamid II, during the constitutional revolution led by the Young Turks.
