Press photograph of the Nazi criminal Wilhelm Frick and his wife leaving the Nazi Party headquarters in Berlin, with a Nazi crowd giving the Hitler salute, and SS officers holding the banner of “We are Germans, ” and signs supporting Adolf Hitler. August 19, 1934.

Wilhelm Frick [1877-1946], one of the leading figures of the Nazi regime in Germany, held the rank of Reichsleiter within the party. When the Nazis rose to power in 1933, Frick was appointed as Minister of the Interior. He was among those responsible for the Nuremberg Laws, which discriminated against Jews and were one of the key steps leading to the Holocaust and the destruction of Jews wherever the Nazis reached. Frick also headed the German civilian police and had the authority to command the concentration camps. In August 1943, Hitler dismissed Frick from his position as Minister of the Interior without explanation, appointing him as a minister without portfolio. He eventually became the “Protector” of Bohemia and Moravia. After the war, Frick was arrested and brought to trial for his crimes before the tribunal at the Nuremberg Trials. He was the only defendant who refused to testify. He was convicted of planning, initiating, and waging aggressive war, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. He was sentenced to death and hanged on October 16, 1946. In April 1934, Frick made a “private” visit to the Land of Israel, visiting Jerusalem as part of his honeymoon trip.
