The booklet, which is rare in itself, reviews the work of Richard Kaufman (1887-1958 – the chief planner of Zionist settlement from the beginning of the 20th century until the end of the British Mandate in Eretz Israel) In the planning of Israeli cities, and in the field of architecture, and the principles of his work.
In October 1931, Sharett was appointed Secretary of the Political Department of the Jewish Agency. In the same year he moved to Jerusalem with his family. During this period he changed his last name “Tchertok”, which has the Slavic sound, to “Shartok”, following Haim Bograshov. After Arlozorov’s assassination in 1933, Sharett was elected at the 18th Zionist Congress to replace him as head of the Agency’s Political Department, a position he held until 1948.
