Portraits of the Gaon of Vilna and Rabbi Jonathan Eybeschytz – Two large opening “Shana Tova” letters – United States, 1900. Hebrew, German, and Yiddish.
At the top, there is a depiction of the American flag, flanked by Magen Davids on both sides, along with decorative elements, and the blessings “Year of Life” and “Year of Livelihood.” The letters open like a book to reveal two blank pages (not filled in by hand). The portrait of the Gaon of Vilna is based on the famous and widely recognized image first published in 1825.
Identical size: 21×14 cm. Slight tears at the edges of the letters. Condition: Good – very good.
