Die Nachkriegszeit Historische Bilddokumente 1918-1934 – The Postwar Period Historical Photographic Documents 1918-1934 published by Zigarettenfabriken Eckstein-Halpaus and Waldorf-Astoria in Dresden, 1935. Nazi propaganda album – a complete card album.
Card album presents a chronological sequence of color photographs documenting the rise of the Nazi Party from World War I until Hitler’s ascent to power. The album was intended for propaganda purposes and shows the key events that occurred during the 1920s, directly leading to the Nazi Party’s rise to power. The album begins with a chronological timeline focusing primarily on events related to Adolf Hitler himself, from his joining of the Workers’ Party in July 1919 to his assumption of power in January 1933. The cards, intended to be affixed in the album, were distributed by the Eckstein-Halpaus und Waldorf-Astoria cigarette company in their cigarette packs, and before us is a complete album filled with all 252 cards. Each card is described in German print on the album’s pages, with all descriptions carrying a propagandistic nature against the Nazi regime’s opponents throughout the years, and in favor of the Fuehrer . They document public events organized by the Nazi Party, attempting to show the German population’s support for the party, in the atmosphere of the “New Germany” and the rising power of Nazism.
