Special field edition of the English Daily News that was distributed in the South Pacific, announcing the surrender of Nazi Germany. May 8, 1945. Titled: “Germany Quits”. A rare stencil issue with the newspaper’s title in red, and illustrations. Distributed in field conditions in a limited number of copies to announce the defeat of Nazi Germany. The title page next to the newspaper’s title shows a crushed swastika. Extremely rare.

The title page reports that the German Commander-in-Chief agreed to an unconditional surrender at the school where General Eisenhower and his army were stationed, and that the Nazi Foreign Minister announced to all German soldiers to lay down their arms, and it is also reports that radio broadcasts are broadcasting the surrender speech of the German Foreign Minister. The issue describes in detail the final battles that led to the end of the war and describes the enthusiastic reactions to the end of the war, which brought about the largest number of casualties in history. In the second part of the newspaper, a chronology of the war is presented, accompanied by illustrations, from the outbreak of the war with the Nazi invasion of Poland to its unconditional surrender – this article is accompanied by two illustrations – one depicting Nazi soldiers giving the Nazi salute and swastika flags, and the other showing defeated SS soldiers in the streets of Berlin. An extensive report on the preparations for victory celebrations across Europe.
