“Heichal Tefillah Sha’arei Rachamim” Kiryat Gat. Booklet of synagogue regulations of the Indian community in Kiryat Gat. Among the regulations listed: all prayers shall be conducted in the Marathi language; prayers must be recited for the Jews residing in Kiryat Gat; the president, together with the members of the executive committee, shall be responsible for all matters of prayer; regulations concerning the authority of the synagogue treasurer; powers of the secretary and synagogue committee; clarification of the powers of the synagogue president; the treasurer shall collect donations from the members at the discretion of the executive committee; the treasurer must maintain a detailed record of all objects located in the prayer hall. Once a member acts in violation of the rules regarding discipline in the prayer hall, or does something contrary to the interest of the prayer hall, or engages in activity that harms the Heichal Tefillah, the general assembly has the right to remove that member’s name. Regulations concerning the election of members; regulations regarding appropriate language during the members’ assembly: “A member shall not speak more than twice regarding the same matter; if there is a need to speak a third time on the same subject, he shall request permission from the chairperson”; regulations concerning fees to be collected from individuals celebrating events at the synagogue; one who wishes to pray in memory of a deceased person at the synagogue must pay two and a half lira; financial management of the synagogue, and more.
