Scene from the Life of Spanish Immigrants in Salonika in the Late 18th Century Rephael Avraham Shalem – lithographic print in gold ink, Moznon press, Bezalel Jerusalem 1937.

Kindling the eternal flame just before Shabbat – magnificent work at Moznon press.

Artist Rephael Avraham Shalem [RO”Sh] was born in Salonika in 1888, among the first graduating class of Bezalel; he went on to teach there. He prepared his picture for print already in 1916 as appears in the picture, but the printing was too expensive for him so it was actually printed in 1937.

Size: 42×65 cm. Very fine condition.
