Presentation text , edition and production by André Gravier. A box set of six records including 12 sound tracks from the years 1933-1942.
The set was released in 1979 and documents the period between 1933 and 1939, it includes speeches by Hitler, senior Nazi regime figures, and German radio propagandists, music and news reports from the events of the time. Accompanying the original sound tracks are descriptions by Gilette Barbier and Raymond Jourdan.
The first part, “1933-1934”, begins with the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Germany. It also includes the Anschluss, annexation of Austria by Germany in 1938.
The second part, “1935-1936”, documents the Italian invasion of Ethiopia and the Spanish Civil War.
The third part, “1937”, documents the Japanese invasion of China and the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
The fourth part, “1938”, documents the Munich Agreement and Kristallnacht pogrom.
The fifth part, “1939”, documents the outbreak of World War II.
The sixth part, “1939-1940”, documents the first year of the war, including the fall of France and the Battle of Britain.
