Sefer Derush VeChidush by Rabbi Akiva Eiger – Innovations (Chidushim on Berachot, Seder Moed, Yevamot, and Ketubot) and Sermons. Warsaw, 1839 [תקצ”ט]. First Edition.
One of the most renowned works of depth and scholarship in Jewish tradition, reprinted in dozens of editions and widely studied across the Torah world. The book was printed by the sons of the author, less than two years after the passing of Rabbi Akiva Eiger. At the beginning of the book, there is an important introduction by his sons, describing the learning method and approach to innovation of their great father. The title page states: “Second Book”, but this is actually the first volume, referring to it as the second in relation to Teshuvot Rabbi Akiva Eiger, which was published four years earlier. On the front flyleaf, there is an ownership inscription: “Belongs to R’ Yosef Tenenbaum.”
